The district of S. Opolo gives its name to a nature trail that connects the plateau of the Promontorio to the coastal area below. Along the Addolorata road (SP72), after passing the church of the same name, you enter Via Bevaceto; from there, the first right turn leads to the entrance of the trail.
It is an ancient mule track used by the inhabitants of Capo to reach the coastal stretch below. It ends in a clearing in front of a well-known restaurant by the sea, which stands in place of one of the six tuna processing plants in Milazzo. Following the trail from its starting point, you proceed for about a hundred meters until you reach a stone staircase that leads to an uncovered quadrangular space.
Here you will find the spring of Sant'Opolo; the water gushes clear from a spout in the wall, and in front of it, there are two large washbasins that were used by the locals in the past. In a timeless atmosphere, you can fully enjoy the lush nature, accompanied only by the sound of the clear water from the spring.
Going back up, you can choose to take an alternative small road to the right, which leads to another cross street of Via Bevaceto, allowing you to return to the starting point.
