Piazza Roma is the beating heart of Milazzo, an enchanting city located on the north-eastern coast of Sicily. This spacious pedestrian square is located in a central position, preceding the renowned Via Umberto Primo. At its center stands the Monument to the Fallen of the Great War, a sculptural work created by the talented Palermo artist Nino Geraci in 1926.

This monument commemorates the sacrifice of the inhabitants of Milazzo who, with courage and dedication, gave their lives to defend their homeland during the First World War. The winning sketch, entitled "Roma 18", was chosen from 18 proposals by a prestigious judging commission made up of the architect Ernesto Basile, the art critic Ugo Fleres and the sculptor Mario Rutelli.

The square is surrounded by elegant historic buildings that bear witness to the rich history of Milazzo, while modern commercial activities add a touch of liveliness and vitality to the context. Well-manicured trees, cozy benches, and a lovely central fountain create a pleasant and inviting atmosphere, inviting visitors to relax and soak up the city atmosphere.

Piazza Roma is also an ideal starting point for exploring the wonders of Milazzo. The majestic Castle of Milazzo, which dominates the city with its grandeur, offers a spectacular view of the sea and the fascinating Aeolian Islands. The Port of Milazzo, easily reachable from the square, is the starting point for exciting excursions to these fascinating islands, which offer breathtaking landscapes and authentic natural beauty.

The square is very close to the city centre, enlivened by trendy cafes, restaurants offering delicacies of the local cuisine and shops offering a variety of products.
